As VP, Business Development at BCIC, Lisa Payne has over 20 years of senior leadership experience at public and private companies.  She has founded three companies and serves as a mentor and advisor to several technology startup companies.

Most recently, Lisa served as the President of Aegis Mobility, a leader in the development of next generation Context Based Services for Mobile Networks. Prior to Aegis Mobility, she served as President of TeraSpan Networks Inc, a fiber optic network builder and manufacturer and was instrumental in securing international strategic partnerships and sales to municipalities, carriers and telecom providers. In 2007, Lisa managed and facilitated the sale of Fatport, western Canada's largest wireless hotspot provider.

In 1999, Lisa co-founded Criterion Service Laboratory Inc., a contract research lab providing services to biotech companies across North America and conducted its own scientific research in the early detection of cancer. As an executive at Wavemakers Inc, , a voice-enhancement software company, she was instrumental in raising multiple rounds of private financing and funding and closing the eventual acquisition by Harman International in 2001. Until the recent close of a successful TSX venture exchange qualifying transaction to a green energy company in 2010,  Lisa was also a Director at AdCore Capital and seed investor. Until 1999, she held the Office of General Manager during her tenure at Scientific Atlanta (formerly Nexus Engineering Corp.)

At BCIC, Lisa is driving the creation of accelerators for technology startups in the province. Her entrepreneurial background, combined with her extensive experience in sales, business development, operations, industry research, finance and human resources provide her with the invaluable understanding of the infrastructure and ecosystem needed to support BC’s tech startup community.

Lisa actively serves as a mentor to a number of BC startup companies including Square Data Facilities, a data centre in BC for which she is both a Director and Advisor.  Since 2005, she has served on the Board of the Focus Foundation, which helps high-risk youth achieve their potential.
